After this year’s  Mikolas Josef’s successful participation with  Lie to me that finished 6th in the Eurovision 2018 Grand final, Czech Republic will follow the same format for selecting its Eurovision entry.

Eurocontest.cz (member of the INFE Network) revealed that this year’s national selection, entitled ESCZ 2019 , will conclude at the end of January and will feature 6 competing entries. Submission of songs to the national broadcaster is in progress and ends on October 31. From the submitted songs a total of six songs will compete in the national final.

The final outcome will be determined by an international jury, formed by past Eurovision participants, and an online voting open to local and international fans. Fans will be able to cast their vote through a special application (Official Eurovision App), where all competing entries will be uploaded first days of January. However, only the local fans’ votes will count fully while the ones coming from outside the country will count as one extra vote included in the jury’s overall voting. The final result combining Jury and online voting will be revealed at the end of January 2019.

The story so far in Eurovision

Czech Republic appeared for the first time in the Contest in 2007 with  Kabat. A a row of disappointing results the country withdrew in 2010 and didn’t return until 2016. In 2016 its returned was followed by a gran final qualification for the first time . The best result came for the country in this year’s edition of the contest with  Mikolas Josef who achieved a 6th placing in the Lisbon with his song και  Lie to me.
