National Final for Germany in 2018
Thomas Schreiber, Program Director of the National Broadcaster ARD in Germany, revealed that the artist who will represent Germany in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, will be determined once more through a National Final.
Answering to the media on Helen Fisher’s potential participation he said:
“I am not sure that this is what it is all about. We have already discussed with her team in the past and she stated that she didn’t want to. But you will surely be surprised with the concept of our national final.”
According to this statement, Thomas Schreiber implied that Germany will once more run a National Final in 2018. After the disappointing results of the last 3 years, officials are working on a new formula for the national final of 2018 in order to bring Germany back in the top-10 places of the final scoreboard.
Last time that Germany managed to reach the top-10 in the Grand Final was in 2012 with Roman Lob and his song Standing Still (8th place).
