Albania 2017: Lindita Halimi wins Festivali i Këngës 55 with “Bote”

Albania has finally picked its entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2017  and has been chosen in the final of Albania’s Festivali i Këngës. Out of 24 entries, which had qualified in two semi-finals on the previous nights, an expert jury and the public vote chose Lindita Halimi. She will fly the Albanian flag in Kiev with the song Bote, which means World in English.

Linda Halimi was born in Viti, Kosovo. She took part in the third edition of Albanian Idol and reached the Top 10. In 2013 she moved to the United States and she took part in American Idol. In December 2014 she returned to take part in the 53rd edition of Festivali i Këngës, where she finished third. She has released five singles, mostly ballads.

Albania hasn’t won the contest yet. Last year, the country didn’t manage to qualify to the Grand Final as Eneda Tarifa with her ”Fairytale” ended 16th in the semi final.
