Albania 2018: Get to know Eugent Bushpepa
Eugent Bushpepa is a popular Albanian rock singer, songwriter and human rights activist. Also known as Gent Bushpepa, he was born on the 2nd of July in Rrëshen, Albania.
He started singing at the age of six while his guitar training began in the fifth grade of primary school. After finishing high school, he moved to Bologna, Italy, to study medicine where he completed his first academic year.Although Eugent made his professional stage debut in Kënga Magjike at the age of fourteen, his music career was jump-started upon his return to Albania in 2006 where he was set to pursue a medical degree in dentistry and started to perform live shows in various night clubs and pubs alongside studies. Writing and performing his own material, Bushpepa had also made various live covers and appeared in over 2000 live shows since his beginnings.
He started his television career on the «Top Channel» in 2006. Gent and his band supported Deep Purple during their 2007 concert in Albania. His international career was further intensified when they supported the band «Duff McKagan» in their tour in Tirana. In the city of Korça, Eugen Bushpepa performs with Ron “Bumblefooot” Thal, guitarist of «Guns N ‘Roses». He had the pinnacle of his international career in 2014 when Eugenti joined the «Darkology Band» as a vocalist on the tour. The group supported the rock band “Overkill” in their tournament across Europe called “Kill Fest 2014”.
In May 2007, Gent Bushpepa participates in Top Fest 4 with the song “Madness Mask”. He also participated in the same show with a rock band named «Sunrise», with their song “Angel”.
In May 2008, Gent Bushpepa & Gledi attended Top Fest 5 with the song “Enderr Reale”, where Genti wins the Best Male prize.
In December 2008, Rovena Dilo & Gent Bushpepa participated in the 47th RTSH Festival with the song “S’Jam Balade”.
In May 2009, Bushpepa participates in Top Fest 6 with the song “Stine Dreqi”, winner of the “Vodafone Club ” award.
In June 2011, Gent participated in the Albanian «Klip 10 nights» with the song “Stine Dreqi”.
In June 2011, he participates in Top Fest 8 with the song “Rebel Without Shadow”, where she won the Best Male prize.
On June 23, 2011, he publishes the video clip “Stine Dreqi”. The music of the song was written by Elton Deda, the lyrics was written by Orges Toce and with this song, Gent Bushpepa appeared at «The Nights of Klipit 10 (2011)», «Top Fest 6 (2009)» festivals.
In May 2012, Gent Bushpepa participates in Top Fest 9 with the song “The Traveler” and in June 2012, Andos participated in VFM 2012 with the song “Adrenalina” in collaboration with Eugent Bushpepa.
Furthermore,In May 2013, he takes parts in Top Fest 10 with the song “Victims”.
Continuing his apperance in Top Fest, in May 2015, he participates in Top Fest 12 with the song “Prane Finishit”, where she won the “Honorifikim Prize”.
Latest, in December 2017, Eugen Bushpepa participates in the 56th RTSH Festival with the song “Mall”. He wins the first prize and the right to represent Albania at Eurovision 2018.
