Albania: Jonida Maliqi publishes revamped version and music video of “Ktheju Tokës”
Albanian national broadcaster RTSH has published the revamped version and the official music video of Jonida Maliqi’s “Ktheju Tokës”, which will represent Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Jonida won the 57th edition of Festivali i Këngës back in December and, therefore, the right to represent her country in Tel Aviv.
Jonida Maliqi‘s winning entry of Festivali i Këngës “Ktheju Tokës” has been revamped with the recording of the final version taking place in Sweden last month. With the release of the new version Albanian national broadcaster RTSH has also presented the accompanying music video, which was produced by Triangle Media Group.
Jonida Maliqi was born in 1982. Apart from singing she is also a TV host. Jonida began her singing career at Festivali i Këngës when she was 13 years old with the song “Planeti i fëmijëve”, in a duet with Aleksandër Rrapi. In 1997 she returned to the Albanian music festival with another duet; this time with Kastriot Tusha and a song dedicated to Mother Teresa. Her solo career began in 1999 with her song “Do jetoj pa ty” winning the second place in the festival. Maliqi is also known for portraying Juliet in the Albanian musical version of “Romeo and Juliet” alongside Alban Skënderaj. She hosted the fourth season of “Dancing with the Stars Albania” and also served as a judge at the fifth season of “The Voice of Albania” in 2016.
In December 2019 Jonida won the 57th edition of Festivali i Këngës and, therefore, the right to represent her country in Tel Aviv. Her winning entry “Ktheju Tokës” is an emotional Balkan ballad with ethnic elements and is composed by Eriona Rushiti.
