The Armenian national selection process is in full swing! After last weeks revelation of the Depi Evratesil 2020 participants the Armenian broadcaster  AMPTV, released today the 12 competing entries of the country’s national selection for Eurovision 2020.

We found out which acts will compete in the upcoming Armenian national final of Depi Evratesil 2020 and now we get to know the songs that the 12 contestants will be performing in their battle for the tickter to Rotterdam. Listen below to the 12 candidate songs for this year’s nationa final:

Among the contestants we see Athena Manoukian, who after her  X-factor UK attempt and although based in Greece decided to compete in her mother nation’s national final.Additionally, one more act familiar to the Eurovision family is  Vladimir Arzumanyan who won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest representing Armenia back in 2010 with his entry Mama.

After a one year break, with an internal selection, the Armenian broadcaster is going back to Depi Evratesil format in order to select the country’s Eurovision entry. The same format was used in 2017 and 2018 while in 2019 the broadcaster opted for an internal selection, selecting Srbuk and the song Walking Out to fly the flag in Tel Aviv. Unfortuanately, the Armenian act failed to reach the final as she finished 16th in the semi final.

This year’s national final is set to take place on February 15.

The Eurovision Story so Far

Armenia participated first time in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. The best results for the country came in 2008 with Sirusho and  in 2014 with Aram Mp3 achieving both a 4th in the Grand Final. Since its debut hasn’t missed a contest except in 2012 when the country withdrew from the contest.

In its 13 years of participation Armenia has managed 7 top 10 placings establishing Armenia as one of the most successful countries in the contest. In 2018 the Depi Evratesil 2018 winner   Sevak Khanagyan  represented Armenia in Lisbon with his entry Qami. Depsite his impressive vocal performance he didn’t make it to the final.

Last year AMPTV selected internally Srbuk who represented the country in Tel Aviv performing her song Walking Out, but failed to qualify to the Grand Final.
