Armenia: Maléna releases her withdrawn 2020 Junior Eurovision song “Why”
Maléna Fox who was internally selected to represent Armenia at Junior Eurovision 2020 has released her withdrawn entry “Why“.
Even though Armemia had confirmed their participation in Junior Eurovision 2020, earlier in November the national broadcaster, APMTV, announced that the country will withdraw from this year’s competiton , due to the war in Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) and the martial law imposed in the country.
The Armenian Head of Delegation revealed then that 13 yo Malena Fox had been internally selected to represent the country back in July. Now the 13 year-old act has released the song which she was set to perform in Warsaw titled ‘Why”.
Why is an emotive balled song that outline the indifference and the hatred people turn to instead of love that can heal humanity’s problems. The music and production is work of tokio9 while the lyrics have been written by Suzanne Khanzadian, David Tserunyan (Armenian Hod) and tokio9.
After 13 editions of consecutive appearances in Junior Eurovision, since 2007 they debuted in the contest, Armenia is withdrew for the first time this year from the competition. Last year the landlocked country was represented by Karina Ignatyan and her song ‘Colours of your Dream’ which finished 9th with 115 points.
