Armenia: Srbuk to represent the country in Tel Aviv
It’s is official! We have our first ESC 2019 act as AMPTV, the Armenian national broadcaster, has revealed the name of its Eurovision 2019 representative. Srbuk will be flying the Aremenian flag in Tel Aviv next May!
The Armenian national broadcaster decided this year, after two years of national finals, to go internal in order to determine its Eurovision act. This evening the broadcaster revealed its Eurovision act in the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest during the Good Evening late night show. The Good Evening Show is aired on ARMTV Channel 1 and is hosted by Aram Mp3 (Eurovision 2014) .
Commenting on this year’s selection the Armenian Head of Delegation, David Tserunyan , stated:
It was our team’s unanimous decision to choose Srbuk to represent Armenia at ESC 2019! I would also like to highlight that many Armenian fans of the contest wanted to see her on the Eurovision stage. I am confident that Srbuk’s unique character will impress thefans and viewers all over the world.
Who is Srbuk
Srbuk is one of the most promising Armenian young stars. She has competed in several local and international contests. She participated in the Ukrainian edition of the The Voice, where she managed to reach in the final round of the show. was one of the favorites and has successfully reached the final stage of the competition. Her song Yete karogh es topped the Armenian charts while her latest new single is entitled Half a Goddess.
Srbuk herself expressed her feelings on representing Armenia in the next Eurovsion Song Contest :
I am starting a new journey now, which, I am sure, will be full of new and pleasant emotions, challenges and amazing experiences! I am grateful to all of my friends and fans, who are always with me and have always wanted to see me on the Eurovision stage. I am grateful to the Public TelevisionofArmenia for their trust. It’s an honor to represent my country in front of the whole world! We have an amazing journey ahead of us, and I hope we’ll succeed together!
The Eurovision Story so Far
Armenia participated first time in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. The best results for the country came in 2008 with Sirusho and in 2014 with Aram Mp3 achieving both a 4th in the Grand Final. Since its debut hasn’t missed a contest except in 2012 when the country withdrew from the contest.
In its 12 years of participation Armenia has managed 7 top 10 placings establishing her as one of the most successful countries in the contest. In 2018 the Depi Evratesil 2018 winner Sevak Khanagyan represented Armenia in Lisbon with his entry Qami. Depsite his impressive vocal performance he didn’t make it to the final.
