Australia: “Eurovision-Australia Decides” will determine the country’s participation in Eurovision 2022

The Australian broadcaster, SBS, has confirmed that the national final Eurovision – Australia Decides will determine the country’s representative and participation in Eurovision 2022.

SBS confirms that the next Australian representative of ESC will be selected through the show Eurovision – Australia Decides.

The national final is set for Saturday, February 26 and will be presented again by comedian Joel Creasey and music lover Myf Warhurst for the third time in a row.

The song submission window opens

SBS invites songwriters to submit their original composition as part of the national selection process via sbs.com.au/eurovision.

Submissions are accepted until September 26, 2021. There are no restrictions on the number of songs that composers and songwriters can submit.

After the evaluation of the songs, they will be included in the shortlist and will be released in the coming months together with the ten artists who will claim the ticket to Italy in May 2022, representing Australia. The Australian public, along with a jury, will select the next Australian representative for Italy.

Australia In Eurovision 

Australia has been taking part in the Eurovision Song contest since 2015 and has not won the competition to date.

Best placing so far was in 2016 with Dami Im  with his song “Sound of Silence” which finished 2nd in the final.

This year represented by Montaigne who sang “Technicolour” but failed to qualify for the final, finishing 14th in the first semi-final with 28 points.
