Austria: Eurovision 2019 representative to be announced in the new year
The Austrian national broadcaster, ORF, has stated that the country’s Eurovision 2019 representative will be revealed in the new year.
According to statement the Austrian broadcaster made to Eurovision.de , Austria’s Eurovision 2019 act will be revealed not earlier than the new year. ORF official stated :
Twice we were in the final after an internal selection, which gives us the feeling that we are doing well with this procedure
As ORF told eurovision.de, Eberhard Forcher from the radio station Ö3 was commissioned to scout the possible acts in this ESC season as well. He compiles the shortlist of potential ESC acts in Austria. On this list is already one in the social media heavily regarded act: Hyänen Fischer.
ORF had confirmed earlier that it had received the act’s application and that it would be equally reviewed as the rest of the proposals. However, Hyänen was featured last week in several ORF tv programs such as ΖΙΒ Magazine and Kultur Heute while her hit was played at the ORF “Christmas Party.”
The Eurovision Sotry So Far
Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has won the competition twice with Udo Jurgens(1966) and Conchita Wurst (2014).
In 2018 Austria selected Cesar Sampson via an internal selection and represented the country with his entry Nobody but you. The Austrian act achieved a honorable 3rd placing in the Grand Final by winning the jury voting winning the jury voting.
