Austria: Iceland wins ORF’s alternative Eurovision show “Der Kleine Song Contest”

During the week the Austrian national broadcaster, ORF, ran the alternative Eurovision show ” Der Kleine Song Contest” seeking for Austria’s Eurovision 202o winner. The outcome saw Iceland big winner with the Eurovision 2020 entry Think About Things!

The show was presented by Andi Knoll who outlined the importance of honoring the Eurovision 2020 entires despite the contest’s cancellation.  ORF’s alternative Eurovision show ” Der Kleine Song Contest” (The Little Song Contest”)  unfolded over three shows, which saw the 41 Eurovision 2020 competing entries split up in three semi final shows and being ranked by a panel of former Austrian Eurovision representatives consisted of the following members:

  • Waterloo ( Austria 1976 – My Little World )
  • Simone (Austria 1990 – No More Walls)
  • Petra Frey (Austria 1994 – For the Peace of the World)
  • Manuel Ortega ( Austria 2002 –  Say a Word)
  • Alf Poier (Austria 2003 – Because People Count)
  • Eric Papilaya (Austria 2007 – Get Alive )
  • Nadine Beiler (Austria 2011 –The Secret Is Love )
  • Conchita ( Austria 2014 – Rise Like a Phoenix)
  • ZOE (2016 –Loin d’ici )
  • Cesár Sampson ( Austria 2018 – Nobody but You)

Each juror could award a total of 12o points to the songs of each round. The winning entry in each one of the three shows qualified in a superfinal round during which the Austrian audience determined the final winner. The results of the three shows developed as following:

Therefore the three countries that qualified to last evening’s Superfinal round we Iceland , Malta and Austria. The audience cast its votes through televoting crowning as the final winner the Icelandic Eurovision 2020 entry Think About Things  performed by Daði og Gagnamagnið. The analytical results according to the televoting came out as following:
