Belarus: National final to take place on March 6
The Belarusian national broadcaster BTRC has opened the submission window for the country’s Eurovision 2020 national final, which will take place on March 6.
According to tvr.by , the production group of the media holding has opened accepting applications for participation in the national selection for the Eurovision 2020 song contest.
Terms of Submission
All interested artists can apply by filling in the electronic form before January 17, 2020 on the official website of the company www.tvr.by . After that, the focus group of the Belteleradiocompany will pre-cast musical compositions and form a list of participants in live listening. The list of contestants admitted to the audition will be published on the organizer’s website no later than January 22.
On January 27, auditions will take place according to the results of which, the next focus group will, by a simple majority of votes, determine up to twelve participants in the national final (the number of finalists can be changed by the decision of the organizer independently or at the suggestion of the focus group). During the listening, the online broadcast will be carried out on the website of the Belteleradiocompany www.tvr.by.
Finalists will be selected by the jury and the audience
The final will be held no later than March 6, 2020 in the format of a live television show on the Belarus 1 and Belarus 24 channels. The winner will be determined by the results of voting by a professional jury and spectators. The finalist with the most points will be declared the winner of the national final and will win the ticket to Rotterdam representing Belarus at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest.
The project is carried out by the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (organizer) as the only member of the European Broadcasting Union (EMU) in our country and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus (co-organizer) in accordance with the regulations developed by the organizer and the competition rules established by EMU.
THE EUROVISION STORY SO FAR
Belarus has been participating in Eurovision since 2004 without missing an edition since its first participation. Its best placing so far was in 2007 with Dmitry Koldun and Work Your Magic which finished 6th in the final. This remains Belarus’ only top ten placement. Belarus also qualified for the final in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019. On the other hand its worst result came in 2006 with Polina Smolova who finished 22nd in the semi final.
In 2018 Alekseev represented the country with his song Forever but unfortunantely didn’t make it to the final as he finished 16th in the 1st semi final.
