Belgium: Jérémie Makiese’s entry in Eurovision 2022 with the title ”Miss you” was released today

The participation of Jérémie Makiese with the title ”Miss you” for Eurovision 2022 in Turin was released today.

Jeremie Makiese’s song was released this morning during the Le 8/9 show at Vivacité, while his official music video was released on La Une.

Jeremie will be performing in the second hald of the 2nd semi final on May 12, 2022 in Turin. 

Back in September 2021 Belgian broadcaster RTBF has announced Jeremie Makiese as the country’s next representative at Eurovision 2022. 

Jeremie Makiese, who won the 9th season of The Voice Belgium in June, had expressed interest in representing the country at Eurovision. RTBF listened with interest to this statement and finally decided that Jeremie’s dream will come true and that he will be the chosen one who will travel to Italy in May 2022.

A fews words for Jérémie

Jeremy Machieze was born in June 2000 in Antwerp to parents of Congolese musicians. At the age of 6 he and his family (including his three brothers and sister) moved to Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, then to Dilbeek, spending his childhood between the two municipalities, where he learned to speak Dutch and French. . Jérémie now lives in Uccle and is a bilingual French-Dutchman.

He is currently studying geology and enjoys playing football, starting at the age of 13, he started playing as a goalkeeper for BX Brussels. In September 2021, he signed a one-year contract with Excelsior Virton, after playing with Royal Wallonia Walhain.

On January 12, 2021, Jeremie auditioned for the 9th season of The Voice Belgique performing Labrinth’s “Jealous”, with the four coaches coming back for him. Finally, he chose the team of Beverly Joe Scott.

In the grand finale, he performed three songs: “Earth Song”, “Revival” (with Beverly Joe Scott) and “Jealous”, eventually winning the 9th season of The Voice Belgique.

Belgium in Eurovision 

Belgium is  one of the seven countries that had its first participation back in 1956.

Belgium has won the contest one time in 1986 with Sandra Kim and the song” J’aime la vie“. 

In 2021 Belgium represented by Hooverphonic who sang “The Wrong Place” which finished 19th place with 74 points.
