Croatia: HRT unveiled the 16 competing acts of Dora 2019
The Croatian national broadcaster HRT, has revealed the country’s national final’s hopefuls for Eurovision 2019, the 16 acts that will compete in Dora 2019.
Croatia this year will be sticking with its traditional national selection format, Dora, in order to determine its Eurovision 2019 entry. As the deadline of submissions expired on January 10, the national broadcaster revealed that it had received 150 songs for the country’s national final. A special HRT jury, formed by Vanna, Zlatko Turkalj, Igor Geržina, Ante Pecotić, Zlatko Gall, Antonija Šola, Željen Klašterka, shortlisted the candidates to a number of 16 finalists.
Therefore here are the 16 a competing acts of Dora 2019:
- Elis Lovrić – All I Really Want
- Luka Nižetić – Amorero brutalero
- Gelato Sisters – Back to the Swing
- 4 Tenora – Brod bez imena (Ship without a name)
- Beta Sudar – Don’t Give Up
- Bernarda Bruno – I Believe in True Love
- Domenika – Indigo
- Manntra – In the Shadows
- Jure Brkljača – Ne postojim kad nisi tu (I don’t exist when you’re not here)
- Ema Gagro – Redemption
- Lea Mijatović – Tebi pripadam (I belong to you)
- Lidija Bačić Lille – Tek je počelo (It just started)
- Jelena Bosančić – Tell Me
- Lorena Bućan – Tower of Babylon
- Roko Blažević – The Dream
- Bojan Jambrošić & Danjela Pintarić – Vrijeme predaje (Time to surrender)
DORA 2019
Dora 2019 is to take place in the city of Opatija on February 16. Dora 2019 will be held in the Sports Hall Marino Cvetković, while organizers of the event will be the city of Opatija and Hotel Millennium. Before the final show’s night two more events are set to take place . The full schedule includes the following events:
- 1st night: Chansons and Optaija Serenades with the Symphony Orchestra
- 2nd night : Dora classics
- 3rd night: Competing Entries for Dora 2019 national final
Some of the country’s past rerpesentatives will attend the shows such as , Franka (2018), Jacques Houdek (2017), Tony Cetinski (1994), Kraljevi ulice (2008) and members of the femal group Feminnem (Bosnia Herzegovina 2005 and Croatia 2010)
The Eurovision Story So Far
Croatia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with the group Put and their entry Don’t ever cry. The Balkan country’s best results in the competition were scroed in 1996 (Maja Blagdan) and 1999 (Doris Dragovic), when it achieved a 4th placing in the Grand Final.
In 2018 Croatia selected internally Franka Batelic to represent the country in Lisbon with her song Crazy. Despite her dynamic performance she failed to qualify to the Grand Final.
