Cyprus: Hovig’s song and video clip for Eurovision 2017 released

Τhe Cypriot song for Eurovision Song Contest 2017 “Gravity” has just been released.

Cyprus was the first country to announce its act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017!

Hovig will take to the stage in Kyiv with Gravity.

The song was written by esteemed Swedish composer Thomas G:Son.

 

Who is Hovig?

Hovig was born on 3 January 1989 in Nicosia and is a Cypriot singer of Armenian origin. Hovig studied marketing and worked in business, but quickly gave up in order to become a singer. He learned to play the guitar and piano and also studied jazz and vocals.

In 2009, Hovig took part in the second season of The X Factor Greece and he ended up finishing in seventh place in the competition.

Hovig has tried to represent Cyprus in Eurovision Song Contest two times. In 2010 with “Goodbye”, which came second in the Cypriot final and in 2015 with “Stone in a River” which finished fourth in the national final.

On 21 October 2016, Hovig was announced as the Cypriot entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
