Cyprus: Results of the fifth audition show for the Eurovision Song Project

The fifth audition show for the Eurovision Song Project  was aired by the Cypriot broadcaster, CyBC, last evening, with three more acts proceeding to the Eurochallenge phase of the competition.  The winner of the Eurovision Song Project will represent Cyprus at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

Another set of  9 acts performed in front of a special Jury consisting of former Cypriot Eurovision representatives Despina Olympiou, Alex Panayi, Elena Patroklou along with Tasos Trifonos. The act managing to get at least three YES from the jury moves on to the next phase.

The full results of last nights show are as following:

1.Yuri performed the songs Hold me now (Ireland 1987) and Victorious – 4 Yes

2.Christina Stilianou performed the songs Stronger every minute (Cyprus 2004) and Lonely nights – 1 Yes (Panayi), 3 No (Patroklou, Trifonos, Olympiou)

3.Apollonia performed the songs Only teardrops (Denmark 2013) and Don’t give up on me (Just yet) – 3 Yes (Patroklou, Trifonos, Olympiou), 1 No (Panayi)

4.Neofitos Stratis performed the songs Non ho l’età (Italy 1964) and Rebound – 2 Yes (Patroklou, Olympiou), 2 No (Panayi, Trifonos)

5.Flirt performed the songs Euphoria (Sweden 2012) and Let your mind free – 4 No

6.Helena performed the songs Euphoria (Sweden 2012) and No money no honey – 4 No

7.Georgiou Konstantina performed the songs Is it true? (Iceland 2009) and When we used to be – 2 Yes (Patroklou, Olmpiou), 2 No (Panayi, Trifonos)

8.Hovig performed the songs I anixi (Greece 1991) and Stone in a river – 4 Yes

9.Maria Evangelou performed the songs Cliché love song (Denmark 2014) and Play me like a pop song – 1 Yes (Olympiou), 3 No (Panayi, Patroklou, Trifonos)

Therefore, the acts that qualified to the next phase are:Yuri – Victorious, Apollonia – Don’t give up on my (Just yet),Hovig – Stone in a river. These three will join the other  17 qualifiers from the previous four audition shows, the results of which you can read about below:

The Cypriot procedure for the national selection continues with the two Eurochallenge shows, taking place on the 18th and the 25th of January, with 10 acts for each show. The Grand Final that will determine the Cypriot representative for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, will include six acts that will “battle” for the golden ticket to Austria.
