Cyprus: “We can host Eurovision 2019”

In an interview to BBC, the General Director of RIK,the Cypriot national broadcaster,states that Cyprus wants and can organize the next Eurovision Song Contest in Limassol.

Mr Maratheftis explained to the BBC that if Eleni Foureira wins the final of the contest on Saturday, then RIK is ready to host Eurovision 2019. Having the experience of organizing Junior Eurovision 2008, the Director-General of the Cypriot public television has pledged to be able to organize the Eurovision contest with the same success.

The biggest closed stage in Cyprus, where Eurovision 2019 could be held as Fuego is at the top, is the « Spyros Kyprianou » sports center in the beautiful city of Limassol, which is the city that meets the criteria of the EBU (hotels etc.).

This will be the smallest venue to host the contest since 2003 in Riga.
