According to the initial plan, the next representative would had been determined through a national selection held by the Cypriot broadcaster. For that purpose, live auditions were held in November in order to choose the finalists of the selection.
However with the national elections approaching at the end of the month (28/01) and after the composer’s desire for a more experienced and popular artist, the broadcaster opted to a change of plans.

Of course Alex Papaconstantinou couldn’t miss the whole escalating effort of the Cypriot broadcaster, that has taken this year’s Eurovision Song Contest as a serious challenge.
Despite the media reports and rumors referring to one of the most popular Greek female singers, as INFE Greece reports, until this time the Greek artist hasn’t given THE final positive answer, but is surely very interested and exploring all the parameters in a very serious way.
