Czech Republic 2018: who will be the next representative in Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon?
Czech Republic, with a a simple statement in the check television Česká televize, confirmed officially the participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon.
After the confirmation of the country’s National Television Station, the submission of the songs that will be nominated for the country is under way. The process will be open until November 17. All rules for those who want to submit a song are here. As it seems, Czech Republic will make a closed choice this year.
Czech Republic has participated in the competition 6 times and it has managed to reach the final only once in 2016 in Stockholm with Gabriela Gunčíková and the song I Stand.
After last year’s failure of the country to be in the big final in Kiev, artists who participated in the institution, rushed to support their country in the competition.
Gabriela Gunčíková, stated:
“I think Czech Republic has a lot to offer in the competition. Eurovision is a game above all and I believe that participating in an international game is more healthy than being part in international conflicts“.
Marta Jandová, the representative 2015 continued:
“I have to admit that both Václav Noid Bárta and me have got a lot of new fans from countries all over the world who are following us in social networks. This fact from it’s own makes our participation in the Eurovision Song Contest truly worthwhile”.
Václav Noid Bárta, also said:
“I wish I could go back to Eurovision again. I really encourage everyone to participate in the competition. My participation from it’s own, for my country, Czech Republic, gave me the opportunity to feel like an international star”.
Last years’ representative, Martina Bárta, referred to her experience in the Eurovision:
“The 3 months that lasted the whole process were really the most fantastic 3 months of my life. Thanks to Eurovision, I made new friends and I still have contacts with some representatives of other countries. It is important to stay calm before your appearance and avoid unnecessary anxiety. Eurovision viewers are not there to hurt you but to encourage you”.
Finally, Jan Potměšil, producer of CT, mentioned:
“Dasha, Thom Artway, Mikolas Josef, Markéta Konvičková, Pavel Callta, Elis Mráz, Yanna, Mariana Prachařová, Annabelle and the groups Doctor Victor and Eddie Stoilow have expressed their interest in participating in the contest. The winner will have 100% of our attention but also the opportunity to interpret his song in other European countries. This year, our focus will be mainly on our stage presence. We will prepare everything in Czech Republic and we will introduce them to Portugal. We are really grateful that Czech musicians and composers are on our side”.
Martina Bárta represented her country last year in Kiev, but she did not manage to cross the semifinals and she reached to the 13th place in the semifinals with the song my turn.
