Czech Republic: National final candidates to be revealed on January 7
Czech Republic’s national selection finalists will be revealed on January 7 , during a special press conference to be held unveiling all the details of the country’s national final.
This year Czech Republic will be holding a national final, entitled ESCZ 2019 , which will conclude at the end of January and will feature 6 competing entries. Submission of songs to the national broadcaster took place until October 31. From the submitted songs a total of six songs will compete in the national final. The Head of the country’s Delegation Kryštof Šámal, announced that the national broadcaster will hold on January 7 a special press conference releasing all the details and the names of the competing acts of the national final.
The final outcome will be determined by an international jury, formed by past Eurovision participants, and an online voting open to local and international fans. Fans will be able to cast their vote through a special application (Official Eurovision App), where all competing entries will be uploaded first days of January. However, only the local fans’ votes will count fully while the ones coming from outside the country will count as one extra vote included in the jury’s overall voting. The final result combining Jury and online voting will be revealed at the end of January 2019.
Additionally, the Czech broadcaster, CT turned down all the rumors spread by local media, reporting rapper PTK being internally selected as the next Eurovision 2019 representative.
The story so far in Eurovision
Czech Republic appeared for the first time in the Contest in 2007 with Kabat. A a row of disappointing results the country withdrew in 2010 and didn’t return until 2016. In 2016 its returned was followed by a gran final qualification for the first time . The best result came for the country in this year’s edition of the contest with Mikolas Josef who achieved a 6th placing in the Lisbon with his song και Lie to me.
