Denmark 2018: On the 10th of February the DMGP 2018
The National Broadcaster of Denamrk DR announced today that the DMGP 2018 (Danks Melodi Grand Prix), the National selction of the country for Eurovision 2018, will be held on the 10th of February 2018 in Aalborg. The Show will take place in Gigantium stadium which has a capacity of 5.000 people. Although Gigantium stadium was partialy destroyed by a fire last month, the Danish organizers are 100% percent sure that the renovation will be ready in February.
Aalborg will be the host city of DMGP for the seventh time. Last time was in 2015 in the same arena. Every year DR choses a different city to host the National final of the country. This action brings Eurovision closer to the ESC audience of the country. Odense, Aalborg, Horsen and Herning are the four cities that held DMGP since 2012.
Aalborg is the 4th biggest city of Denmark (100.000 citizens). The procedure of DMGP will be almost the same as in 2017. 10 songs will fight for the golden ticket and the city of Lisbon. Hosts of the night will be Annette Heick and Johannes Nymark as in 2017.
The deadline for those who want to submit a song for Eurovision 2018 is the 15th of September. Songs that will be submitted after the deadline may be used for the National selection of 2019.
Denmark is the winner of Eurovision in 1963, 2000 and 2013. Anja with her song Where i am represented Denmark in Kiev and managed to reach the Grand Final (20th) of ESC after two years.
