Denmark: 982 entries break the record for DMGP 2016.
Is hasn’t been a long time since the Danish national broadcaster, DR, called artists and composers to submit their entries for the DMGP 2016 in order to compete at the forthcoming Danish national final. The deadline expired 7 September. DR, revealed today that a total of 982 entries have been submitted breaking the all time record. This is the largest number of songs ever received bidding to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Though this fact has given the officials of the Danish broadcaster many reasons to smile out of satisfaction, it has also given them a harder job of picking out the 10 songs from the 982 entries received, since only 10 acts will compete in the national final, on 13 February at Horsens Forum in Horsens, Jylland, Denmark.
Denmark debuted in the Eurovision in 1957 and has participated 44 times in the contest. The country has won the Eurovision Song Contest thrice , in 1963 with the song «Dansevise» and Grethe & Jørgen Ingmann, in 2000 with the Olsen Brothers and their entry Fly on the Wings of Love και recently in 2013 with Only Teardrops sang by Emmelie de Fores. In 2015 Anti Social Media represented the country with their entry The way you are. Unfortunately the band failed to qualify to the grand final in Vienna.
