Estonia: Get to know Elina Nechayeva
Elina Nechayeva will represent Estonia in Lisbon this year with her Italian language song La Forza. The song was written by Timo Vendt, Mihkel Mattisen, Ksenia Kuchukova and Elina.
Elina won the Eesti Laul 2018 (Estonian Selection) in March and will fly the Estonian flag.
Elina was born in Tallinn (26 years old) and she is an Estonian Soprano. She graduated from Tallinn French School in 2011 and she has a Master’s degree in classical singing. She first participated in the 3rd season of Eesti otsib superstaari (Estonia is Searching for a Superstar) but she was eliminated. In 2014, she took part in Klassikatähed 2014 and ended in the top-3. In 2017 she hosted Eesti Laul 2017.
Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Elina will be Estonia’s 24th participant in Eurovision. Estonia has reached the top-5 of the scoreboard 4 times (1996, 2000, 2001, 2002). She was the winner of ESC 2001 in Copenhagen with the song Everybody by Tanel Padar,Dave Benton and 2XL. In 2002 Estonia hosted the 46th edition of Eurovision in country’s capital city, Tallinn. Estonia failed to qualify from the semi final in 2016 and 2017. Last time Estonia managed to reach the final in 2015, with Elina Born & Stig Rästa and their song Goodbye to Yesterday (7th place).
