Eurovision 2020: Golden Carpet and Opening Ceremony location revealed
The Dutch host Eurovision 2020 broadcaster, AVROTROS, has revealed the location where the Golden Carpet and the Opening Ceremony will take place .
The 2020 Eurovision Golden Carpet and Opening Ceremony will be held at the Rotterdam Cruise Terminal on Sunday, 10 May. The event will be broadcast live on the official Youtube channel of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The organisers have decided in this year’s edition, to unroll a Golden Carpet at the Cruise Terminal of Rotterdam, on which the 41 delegations and EBU officials will be welcomed. The Gold carpet will unfold in a beautiful scenery with the Nieuwe Maas River in Rotterdam on the background. The organisers opted this year for a different colored carpet aiming to spotlight the value of waste, as the carpet’s material consists largely of recyclable carpet.Rotterdam is already know as one of the cities that has adopted zero waste policies and therefore wants to celebrate it !
At the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Rotterdam, Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb and the AVROTROS, NOS, NPO, the EBU, City of Rotterdam officials and The Netherlands will officially welcome the 2020 Eurovision participating countries, delegations and artists to Rotterdam.
In the previous months the organisers had unveiled that the Euroclub venue will be located at the Maassilo , while the Eurovision Village will be spottted at Binnenrotte, in central Rotterdam.
The 65th Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place on 12, 14 and 16 May at the Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
