Eurovision 2020: Spain confirms participation in the next contest
Despite the disappointing results in this year’s Eurovision Song Conetest , Spain has confirmed that they will be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
The Spanish national broadcaster, RTVE confirmed via its official Eurovision page that the country will be participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in the Netherlands, marking Spain’s 60th participation in the contest.
However, RTVE has not yet confirmed the format through which the country will select the Spanish entry for 2020. The last two years the Spanish representative has been selected through the talent show Operación Triunfo. The same talent show was used in the years 2002- 2004 to select the Eurovision act. Eladio Jareño, the director of RTVE, stated that the next season of Operación Triunfo is set to air at the beginning of 2020, a statement that indicates that the broadcaster is likely to use the same method for a 3rd consecutive year.
