Eurovision 2021: Opening Ceremony to take place at Rotterdam Cruise Terminal with a Turquoise Carpet

During first episode of ‘Krista calling’ on Eurovision.tv, hosted by Krista Siegfrids’ more light was shed on the Opening Ceremony of next months Eurovision 2021.

The 2021 Eurovision Opening Ceremony will unfold on May 16 at the Rotterdam Cruise Terminal and will see the delegates walking on a Turquoise Carpet, 210 meters long. The delegations that will travel to Rotterdam will be transfered by a boat to the Cruise Terminal before they make their traditional walk on the opening ceremony’s carpet. 

The Location

The Rotterdam Cruise Terminal is a building on the Wilhelmina Pier, Rotterdam. The Cruise Terminal served as the arrival and departure point of Holland America Line and is considered part of the city’s social and industrial heritage. The Cruise Terminal is still used by large passenger vessels that visit Rotterdam. The Terminal is now known for its cafe/restaurant located inside with a hall of 3800 m². Besides this year’s opening ceremony it was set to host last year’s Eurovision Openign Ceremony that eventually was cancelled. 

“Krista Calling”

This evening the Krista Siegfrids’ (Finland 2013) new show ‘Krista Calling’ kicked off with the first episode during which she tours around the Host City, takes a look at the Eurovision 2021 stage, meett the crew and calls with Gjon’s Tears from Switzerland.

The show will unwind over six episodes spotlighting all the things going around in Rotterdam and the Ahoy arena.
