Finland: YLE opens the submission window for UMK 2022
Finland’s national broadcaster, YLE, has launched the process for the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu UMK, the show that will determine the country’s representative for Eurovision 2022.
YLE has opened the sumbission window for the next Finnish national final and published the rules HERE.
Applications for representation of Finland in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Italy must be submitted by September 6, 2021.
The winner will be selected in the UMK final which was broadcast live in February 2022. The final result of the competition is decided by the combined result of the public and jury voting.
YLE, insists for the 11th consecutive time in the form of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) in order to choose the representative of Eurovision 2022. This was helped by the television record for the national final but also for the competition itself combined with the Blind Channel’s good position in Rotterdam which was Finland’s second best result in the competition.

Finland has been taking part in the Eurovision Song contest since 1961 and has won the contest one time, in 2006 with Lordi and the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah“.
This year Finland represented by rock band Blind Channel who sang ‘Dark Side’ which finished 6th place with 301 points.
