France: Tom Leeb releases new version and official music video of “Mon Alliee” (The Best In Me)”
The French Eurovision 2020 representative,Tom Leeb, has released a new version of his ESC 2020 entry “Mon Alliee” (The Best In Me)” along with its new official music video.
Tom Leeb was internally selected by France 2 to represent the country at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam with his emotional ballad “Mon Alliee” (The Best In Me)”. Following his initial music video that featured panoramic shots of the Eiffle Tower , on which he was performing his song, Tom lately recorded a revamped version of his entry with some final touches and directed its new official music video.
The French national broadcaster hasn’t yet made clear whether it will stick with Tom for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest or it will opr for new act to represent the country. Tom Leeb is set to to perform at the special Eurovision show Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light on Saturday 16 May. The show will be aired live on France 2 replacing the cancelled Eurovision 2020 show.
The Eurovision Story so far
France is one of the seven countries that had its first participation back in 1956. Since then the country has won the contest 5 times. Last time was in 1977, with Marie Myriam and her song L’oiseau et l’enfant. The last two years, however, seems to be an increasing interest for the contest .
Destination Eurovision was used for the first time as the country’s national selection format in 2018, including two recorded semi final shows and a live grand final. Last year was the first time France held a nationa final since 2014. Last year’s winners was the duo Madame Monsieur who represented France in Lisbon with their entry “Mercy” which finished 13th.
In 2019 Bilal Hassani won the second edition of Destination Eurovision 2019 and defended the French colours in Tel Aviv with his entry Roi which came 16th in the Grand final.
