Germany: Jendrik Sigwart to Eurovision 2021!
Jendrik Sigwart will be the act to represent Germany at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, with the presentation of the song taking place on February 25.
Confirming the previous ongoing reports that wanted the young act defending the German colors in Rotterdam next May, NDR, revealed today that Jendrik Sigwart is the nation’s hopeful.
Jendrik and his song for Rotterdam were selected using the same multi-stage process that was used last year. In the end, the 100-member Eurovision jury and the 20-member international expert jury decided on the entire package of Jendrik, his song and his performance based on a live performance.
Jendrik’s song for Rotterdam will only be released in just under three weeks, namely on (traditional preliminary decision) Thursday, February 25th. For the song premiere, the first clears two extremely prominent broadcasting slots: For the first time, the official video of the German contribution will be broadcast at 5:50 p.m. CET in the vicinity of the World Ski Championships, and for the second time directly before the news at 7:56 p.m CET.
Jendrik himself stated on his Eurovision 2021 participation:
I am very happy to be on stage at the ESC for Germany – okay i cannot be able to stay serious , people I’m going to the Eurovision Song Contest – That’s a dream being fulfilled! HOLLA THE FOREST FAIRY!
The German delegation leader Alexandra Wolfslast is also enthusiastic:
Jendrik is authentic through and through, has a great charisma and incredible entertainment qualities. He rightly convinced the ESC juries. We are very happy that he is running for Germany.
A Few words for Jendrik Sigwart
Jendrik Sigwart was born in Hamburg and has four siblings. He learned piano and violin as a teenager and studied musicals for four years at the Institute for Music at the University of Osnabrück. Even during his studies he appeared in various musicals, including My Fair Lady , Hairspray and Peter Pan . Sigwart also writes his own songs published on YouTube .
Aside from the musical stage, Jendrik also writes his own songs on his ukulele with sometimes funny, sometimes thought-provoking texts in German or English and with refreshing catchy tunes. He then performs this accompanied by himself on the ukulele and accordingly most of the songs he can find are presented in acoustic versions.
