Greece: ERT confirms participation for 2017

ERT the Greek Broadcaster has confirmed today that Greece will fly again to Kiev, after the victory of 2005, to take part in ESC 2017.

We still dont know if the country will move on to a National Final show or an Interval selection for this year’s participant and song. Last year, Greece failed to  qualify to the Grand Final in Sweden, represented by the band Argo, for the First time since 2004, when the semi-final show was introduced.

Although Greece confirmed just a few hours ago, we have the first potential names for this year’s participants.

Demy said in Greek media that she and her label are in discussions in order to fly the Grrek flag in Kiev. She also said that she discussed a possible cooperation with Dimitris Kontopoulos and Fokas Evangelinos.

But today, not only Greece confirmed her participation, we also had a participant from the past, expressing her desire to represent Greece Again……… and she is the Only One Helena Paparizou, winner of 2005 in Kiev. Themis Georgantas, a well known Greek journalist and TV presenter, reveled today through a morning TV show in Greece, that Helena is considering to return to Eurovision this year and is currently in discussions.

If eventually Helena Paparizou represents Greece, it will be her third time at the Eurovision scene. Her first appearance was in 2001, as a member of the gooup Antique, with their song Die For You, reaching the 3rd place. In 2005, again in Kiev, Helena reached the top of the scoreboard for Greece, with her song My Number One.
