Iceland: Sigga, Beta & Elín selected for Eurovision 2022

Sigga, Beta & Elín the big winner of national final Söngvakeppnin 2022 and will represent Iceland at Eurovision 2022 with the song ”Með hækkandi sól”.

10 entries will compete in the national selection, which consists of two semifinals and a grand final. Five acts compete in each semifinal with the public voting to select two from each semifinal. In addition, the jury will select one more participant to qualify for the final from the non-qualifiers of the semifinals.

The presenters of the show were Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir.

A total of 5 contestants compete in the final of  Söngvakeppnin 2022.

The 5 contestants who took the stage tonight were:

1.Katla – Þaðan af

2.Amarosis-Don’t You Know

3.Reykjavíkurdætur-Tökum af stað

4.Stefán Óli-Ljósið

5.Sigga, Beta og Elín-Með hækkandi sól

The Results

The results was determined by public voting and  International jury in two rounds of voting.

The International jury consisted of the following members:

  • Ragnheiður Gröndal  (Iceland)
  • Tusse (Sweden)
  • Sóley Stefánsdóttir (Iceland)   
  • Barry Van Corneval (The Netherlands)
  • Stig Karlsen (Norway)
  • Daði Freyr (Iceland)
  • Heidi Välkkilä (Finland)

In the first round, the public voting and the International jury selected two songs for the second and final round. 

The two songs chosen by the public’s televoting and the International jury were:

  • SiggaBeta & Elín – Með hækkandi sól
  • Reykjavikurdaetur – Turn This Around

During the second round only the public voted and chose the final winner.

So the winners were Sigga, Beta & Elín with the song Með hækkandi sól and they will represent the country at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.

Sigga, Beta & Elín will be performing in the second half of the 2nd semi final on May 12 in Turin, Italy.
