Italy: Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro to fly the Italian flag

The 68th San Remo Festival with the grand final was completed a while ago. 20 Campioni artists performed for the fourth and last time their participation and through a multiple vote system we found out the winner. The final result were judged by the different votes of the public, a committee of 300 fans, the press committee and the committee of experts.

After five consecutive nights full of music and impressive performances,Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro won the priceless San Remo award as also the chance to represent Italy in this year’s  Eurovision Song Contest. As RAI announced, a few minutes after the end of the festival, the winners will represent Italy at Eurovision 2018, after receiving the honorary proposal.

The tonight’s contest was splitted into two phases: in phase 1 all 20 Campioni finalists performed their songs once more. The votes were added to those from the previous performances  The top three acts – by the combined scores – progressed to Phase 2. In this phase, all three acts started from a level ground as previous scores had been discarded and the winner came of by  the votes awarded in Phase 2 only.

The rank after the first perfomance of contestants was as follows:

Then,the three candidates who were found in the top three positions were rated from a level ground (50% televoting, 30% press committee and 20% expert panel) and they were:

  • Annalisa
  • Lo Stato Sociale
  • Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro

The great winners of the 68th Sanremo Festival after this vote were Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro with “Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente”. “La Stato Sociale” finished second and Annalisa in third place. The difference was great as the duo of Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro received 45% of the votes in the final round of voting.

Apart from the 20 contestants, we also saw brilliant guests. The most successful contemporary Italian singer, Laura Pausini, was there, as last year’s second winner Fiorella Mannoia, and NEK with Francesco Renga and Max Pezzali.

The special highlight of the night  was when Laura Pausini was singing out of the Teatro Ariston, in front of the amazed eyes of the fans who were gathered there and continued to sing for them.

Finally, the “Mia Martini” Award was given to Ron, the “Lucio Dalla” (Press) Award to Lo Stato Sociale, the “Sergio Endrigo” Award for Best Performance to Ornella Vanoni, the “Sergio Bardotti Verse” Award to Mirkoeilcane, who was from the Young Artists category and the “Prize composition of Giancarlo Bigazzi” to Max Gazze. The TIM sponsor’s  award for most radio listening to Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro.
