Italy: Impressive results for Meta & Moro – The analytical results of Sanremo 2018!
Shortly before, the analytical results of the five nights of San Remo Festival were announced via the official Sanremo Festival website. The duo of Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro was not threatened at any point in the contest and despite the fact that they did not have the support of either the press committee or the jury of experts in the final round of voting, they were crowned as winners because of the universal vote of the public.
Overall conclusions from the score
As we can spot from the results, we can say that there were many surprises throughout the five nights of the festival. First of all, it is rare for the festival a song to be the first in all nights of the contest. Francesco Gabbani did not so that last year, as he did not finish on the first night. So, this year’s Sanemo was actually a fight for one. To understand what we are saying, it is worth mentioning that at the «Prima Serata» of the Festival, when we listened to all 20 songs for the first time, «Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente» received 21.98% of televoting votes, with the second one to get only 10.60%.
Several entries had their ups and downs. Characteristically, we mention The Kolors that started high (3rd place), to end up in ninth place. Annalisa had the reverse route of The Kolors. He started from the eighth place to finish in the third!
Lo Stato Sociale had always been second, behind Ermal Moto & Fabrizio Moro, but without threatening them in any night.
The results of the Grand Final
In the final, the picture was the same. Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro won TV voting in both rounds of voting. In fact, the first three of the audience were all three in the final round. This year, the audience also had a bigger say, since its vote was 50% of the results from 40% until last year. The two committees, respectively, had a different opinion. The press committee had first Lo Stato Sociale, but they were eight in the jury of experts and second in the televoting. Annalisa was third on televoting and sixth in the press committee and expert committee. The winning duo was first in viewers preference, third in the press committee and fourth in the jury of experts.
In the final round of voting among the three super finalists, Annalisa scored higher, but the average of the previous night’s vote brought her third and Lo Stato Sociale second.
As you see, the viewers were them what gave the win to Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente, since Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro received almost 55% of the votes in the final.
Annalisa was the second in the televoting and Lo Stato Sociale third. The press committee wanted Lo Stato Sociale to win, Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro second and Annalisa third , while the committee of experts wanted Annalisa first, Meta & Moro second and Lo Stato Sociale third.
So, as you can notice, this year’s Sanremo winning song was a clear selection of the audience, and now Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente is the Italian participation in Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Untold joy for RAI too, since this year’s festival has recorded the largest total viewing in history, 52.16% (more than 12 million viewers), when last year it accounted for 50.7%!
