Italy: Tonight Sanremo Festival 2021 commences with the first show

The 71st edition of Sanremo Festival begins tonight at Teatro Ariston  with the first show of the Italian music festival, starting the country’s search for its Eurovision 2021 representative.

This year’s Sanremo is marking he 71st edition of the iconic event in its history and will unwind over five shows. The artistic director of the iconic contest, Amadeus, will me the primary host of the show, accompanied in each night by a different host. During the first night the popular Italian actor and singer Matilda De Angelis will co-host the show. 

First Night’s Competing Acts

During the first night the stage will see 13 contestants out of the 26 competing acts in total in the Campioni Category. This night’s competing acts are: 

Aiello – “Ora”

Annalisa – “Dieci”

Arisa – “Potevi fare di più”

Colapesce e Dimartino – “Musica leggerissima”

Coma_Cose – “Fiamme negli occhi”

Fasma – “Parlami”

Francesca Michielin e Fedez – “Chiamami per nome”

Francesco Renga – “Quando trovo te”

Ghemon – “Momento perfetto”

Irama – “La genesi del tuo colore”

Madame – “Voce”

Maneskin – “Zitti e buoni”

Max Gazzè e Trifluoperazina Monstery Band – “Il farmacista”  

Besides the 13 contestants of the Campioni Category we will see taking the stage the four acts out of the eight Nuove Proposte category competing acts which are: 

Avincola

Elena Faggi

Folcast

Gaudiano 

The Voting Process

The results tonight will be determined as following: The first 13 songs of ” The Campioni category” will be heard for the first time. The result is determined by a 100% poll- (demoscopic) jury from 300 fans who will be casting their vote from their home and which is made up based on special  demographic, age and quality criteria. 

The first 4 entries  of “Nuove Proposte” will also be heard for the first time. The result is determined by a double vote: 50% of the poll jury and 50% of the televote with only the top-2 acts qualifying for the final.
