Junior Eurovision 2020: Russia confirms participation in JESC 2020

Russia has confirmed its participation in the next edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Poland .

Russia will be joining the list of countries that have confirmed their participation in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020, in Poland. Thus the country joins the 7 other countries that will be present in Poland.  Georgia, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Ukraine are the rest countries that have confirmed . The contest will take place this November in Poland.

National selection

The Russian broadcaster VGTRK will be holding a national final in order to determine the country’s JESC 2020 representative. VGTRK will be collaborating with  Igor Krutoy Academy of Popular Music Development in order to organise the whole process.

The submission window will open on April 6  and will be accepting application unitl August 25. Interested singers aged 9 to 14 years old that are legal residents or citizens of Russia for at least two years can send in their submissions. More information on the process can be found here.

Once the submissions deadline closes auditions will be held in Moscow during which a  jury will decide which acts will compete at the national final. The national final show is scheduled to take place on September 16 in Moscow and will be recorded for VGTRK to  broadcast on  September 19. The final outcome will be influenced 50% by the jury votes and 50% by the online votes.

THE STORY SO FAR 

Russia debuted at the competition in 2005 and has all years achieved to finish in the top 10 places.  The country has won twice the contest , in 2006 and 2019. Last year the country was represented in Gliwice by Tatyana Mezhentseva and Denberel Oorzhak with the song “A Time For Us”  which ended at 13th place with 72 points.
