Kazakhstan: Khabar TV begins Junior Eurovision 2020 national selection process
The Kazakh national broadcaster, Khabar Tv, has launched today the Junior Eurovision 2020 national selection process, unveiling the formula it will be using to select the country’s next JESC representative.
Kazakhstan has received its third invitation to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held on November 29, 2020 in Poland. The country’s participation in the competition is closely linked with Khabar’s membership in the European Broadcasting Union. This year, the Ministry of Culture and Sports will also contribute to the nation’s participation.
The national selection process
Khabar TV unveiled the format it will use this year to determine the country’s JESC 2020 entry. The broadcast will be holding an open selection to all acts from 9 to 14 years old and the submission window will be open from August 10 to 20. The entries must be 3 minutes long and contain apart from national language up tp 40% English lyrics.
The participant must be a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan or have legally resided in the country for at least two years.The participant must fill out a questionnaire and upload a video of his free performance on the official website of the Agency “Khabar” (www.Khabar.kz).You can learn more about the conditions of participation at the following link
There will be no televised show as the representative will be selected entirely by a jury voting. The jury will be made up by the following members:
- Bagym Mukhitdenova ( Music Producer)
- Khamit Shangaliyev ( Music producer & composer)
- Erlan Bekchurin ( Sound producer of Dimash Kudaibergen)
- Amre ( Winner of the music festival “Slavic Bazaar” 2018)
- Zhabar Dugalova ( Winner of the International Turk Song Contest “Turkvision” 2014)
- Indira Edulbayeva (Superfinalist in the Voice of Ukraine 2020)
- Dinaya ( 2nd runner up in the international competition of young performers, “New Wave” 2015)
- ZaQ ( Soloist of the group ‘Ninety One’)
Kazakhstan in Junior Eurovision
Kazakhstan participated for the first time at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 after EBU’s invitation to Khabar Agency. The nation was represented by the national final winner, Daneliya Tuleshova and her entry “Ózińe sen” which came 5th place at the contest held in Minsk, Belarus.
Last year 12-year-old Yerzhan Maksim flew the flag in Gliwice- Silesia in Poland and after an amazing vocal performance of his song, Armanyńnan Qalma achieved to top the jury voting and finish 2nd on the overall scoreboard.
