Latvia: Get to know Laura Rizzotto

Laura de Carvalho Rizzotto (Latvian: Laura de Karvalju Rizoto) is the Latvian representative for 2018. She will perform her song Funny Girl in Lisbon after her victory in Supernova. Laura is the composer and producer of Funny Girl.

Laura is a Brazilian-Latvian singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist. She was born on the 18th of July 1994 in Rio de Janeiro. In 2005 she moved and settled with her family in the US.  Laura attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2013, Rizzotto moved to Los Angeles and  attended the California Institute of the Arts. In 2017, she moved to New York and received a Ms’ degree in music from Columbia University.

Her carrier began in 2009 and she signed a contract with Universal Music Brazil in 2010.  n 2012, Rizzotto performed as the opening act for Demi Lovato.

She has already released 3 studio albums and her 4th studio album AMBER will be released in 2018.

Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Latvia first competed in the ESC in 2000. The victory in 2002 with Marie N is country’s best result. A 3rd place in 2000 and a 5th in 2005 are the three top-5 results of Latvia. In 2017, the group Triana Park represented the country but they failed in the semi final. Laura will be Latvia’s 19 participation.
