Latvia: Valters Fridenbergs passes away at the age of 30

Sad news today for the Eurovision family as Valters Fridenbergs, one of the duo Walters & Kazha who represented Latvia in Eurovision 2005 passed away this morning at the age of 30.

Valters Friedenberg had been diagonosed with cancer back in 2016. Despite the ongoing chemotherapy and a number of surgeries the the disease came up again last summer. Following that development came the decision to continue his treatment at Sharithe Clinic in Berlin. At that time Walter moved the public’s emotion by speaking publically about his health problem and asked for financial support in order to continue his treatment at the clinic. In spring he was submitted to a significant operation to remove the reamain cancer cells from his lungs .Despite these last months battle he passed away this morning at the age of 30.

Valters was born in the city of Riga in 1987. At the age of 2 he made his first steps on the Latvian Radio via children’s vocal ensemble  Dzeguzīte but became further known as member of the group “Putnu balle”. In 2005 Το 2005 alongside with Kazha (Karl Bumeister), represented Latvia in Eurovision at Kiev with their entry  “The War Is Not Over”,  achieving a 5th placing. In 2011, he became the vocalist of the group “Darkness”. Apart from singing the Latvian act was the host of the most popular TV program named Cute, yet smart.
