Lithuania: Jurijus faces a possible disqualification from national final

Lithuania’s national broadcaster, LRT, confirmed that Jurijus is facing a possible disqualification from next Saturday’s national final , which will determine the country’s Eurovision 2019 representative in Tel Aviv.

THE BREACH OF RULES INVESTIGATED

LRT, is investigating allegations and reports that  Jurijus is competing with a song which had been revealed before the allowed date of September 1, 2018. The lithuanian act is participating in this year’s national final with the song  “Run With Lions”  which according to reports was availiable online since last Spring and only after fans recently discovered it was it removed. The song’s producer speak of ridiculous allegations as the song was never released online before September 1, 2018. 

The Lithuanian Head of Delegation has confirmed that he is aware of the situation and that they are investigating the issue. The whole issue has been reported to EBU , which will evaluate if there is any breack of rules by  Jurijus. If EBU doesn’t decide on the case before Saturday’s national final , the act will participate as scheduled and a qualification if necessary could take place after the final. In case o victory then LRT will replace the disqualified winner with the runner up of the national final.
