Lithuania: LRT opens submission window for Pabandom iš naujo 2022
Lithuania’s national broadcaster, LRT, has opened the submission window for the national selection for Eurovision 2022, “Pabandom iš naujo”.
Lithuania’s national broadcaster, LRT, published the rules and regulations for the national selection, Pabandom iš naujo 2022. However, the broadcaster plans to allocate up to 54,000 euros, without taxes, to the participants, in order to contribute to the production and direction of the entries to present a high level in the quality of the performances.
Candidates wishing to represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2022 can submit their applications to the Lithuania’s national broadcaster, LRT, until November 25, 2021, in order to participate in the national selection “Pabandom iš naujo 2022” (Let’s try again).
In 2022 the selection will not last more than 6 performances: three pre-selection performances, two semi-finals and one final. Depending on the number of participants selected, there may be fewer shows. The first round of the national selection will take place in early January next year.
The results of the public voting appear only at the end of each qualifying concert. The money raised by LRT from the public vote, along with additional financial support from the public service broadcaster, will be used to improve the winner’s performance.
Lithuania in Eurovision
Lithuania has been taking part in the Eurovision Song contest since 1994 and has not won the competition to date.
Best placing so far was in 2006 with LT United with their song “We are the winners” which finished 6th in the final.
This year Lithuania represented by the band The Roop who sang “Discoteque” which finished 8th place with 220 points.
