Lys Assia passed away!

As we were informed a while ago, Lys Assia (Rosa Mina Schärer) passed away at the age of 94. Lys was the first Eurovision winner in 1956 on behalf of Switzerland. She also took part in the competition two more times in 1957 and 1958. She was born in Rupperswil, Aargau, Switzerland on the 3rd of March 1924. According to ”Blick”, the singer died today at the Zollikerberg ZH hospital.
In her personal life, she was married to Heinrich Kunz (1957), who died shortly after a fight with a very serious illness. In 1963, she got married again to the Danish General Consul Oscar Pedersen, with whom she lived until his death in 1995. After the death of Oscar, Lys Assia lived in southern France and later in Germany. The singer spent her old age in Switzerland on the Gold Coast in Zurich.
