Malta 2019: “X Factor” for Eurovision 2019 begins
As we have already informed you in a previous article, Malta is changing the way the artist will be choosen to represent the country in Eurovision and for the next contest puts aside the national final it held for years. The winner of X Factor will be the one who will represent the small Mediterranean country in Israel.
The submission of candidates has already begun and will run until July 4th. In order to cast a song and stand in front of the show’s jury (which has not yet been announced), it should be at least 16 years old on 1 May 2019, in the case of groups of up to six people on the scene and Maltese citizenship (in the case of dual citizenship, one of them must be the Maltese). If it is a group or a duet, the lead singer should also be a Maltese citizen.
Interested parties can submit their participation in the following ways:
-Through the special form on the official website of X Factor Malta
-Through Whatsapp at number 77062018.
In addition to the right to represent Malta in the 64th Eurovision Song Contest, the winner of X Factor will also win a contract with Sony Music Italy.
More details will be announced from Maltese public broadcaster in the next period. X Factor Malta is expected to be launched in October, being essentially the first national final of the year to open the curtain.
Malta was represented by Christabelle this year with “Taboo”, a song signed by Thomas G: Son, the composer of Euphoria. With 101 points finished in 13th place in the 2nd semifinal, losing the right to compete in the final.
