Malta: Destiny Chukunyere to compete in Eurovision 2021!
One more Eurovision 2021 act confirmed as Malta will be continuing with Destiny Chukunyere in next year’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Once the Eurovision song contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak the question that came up was what will happen with this year’s acts that didn’t eventually have the chance to perform on stage in Rotterdam their Eurovision entries. The EBU through a clear statement excluded the ESC 2020 songs ,by not allowing the same entries for 2021 but leaving to the broadcasters to decide whether they will return with the same acts or not. The decision was accepted by broadcasters and acts with mixed feelings. However some nations out of the 41 countries that were to participate in this year’s contest have already confirmed their participation and there act or the format that will determine next year’s representative.
The news are good for Destiny Chukunyere as Malta will be sticking with the winner of x factor Malta in next year’s contest giving the chance to the young talented act to complete her Eurovision journey.
Destiny confirmed the good news herself on her instagram account expressing her gratittude for all the support and declaring her intention to do her best in order to make the country proud.
The 18 year old act won on February 9 the X-factor Malta talent show and earned the right to represent Malta in the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Destiny’s entry “All Of My Love” is written by the Symphonix International team, Bernarda Brunovic, Borislav Milanov, Sebastian Arman, Dag Lundberg, Joacim Persson and Cesar Sampson. Cesar Sampson had represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 and finished third while this is Borislav Milanov’s third entry at this year’s contest.
However, due to the coronavirus outbreak the Maltese act didn’t have the chance to perform her entry in Rotterdam but will now have a second chance to sing a new song at Eurovision 2021.
