Malta JESC 2019: Junior Eurovision 2019 national selection finalists unveiled
The Maltese national broadcaster, PBS, has revealed the 12 finalists of the national final to determine the Maltese Junior Eurovision 2019 act.
The national broadcaster revealed the 12 acts that will compete in the Junior Eurovision 2019 national final :
- Aiden Aquilina Cohen – Loved either way
- Francesca Borg – Seven Nation Army
- Shania Cauchi – O mio bambino caro
- Maya Cauchi – Creep (Postmodern Jukebox)
- Leah Cauchi – Illejla (Tonight)
- Yarin Coleiro – The power of love
- Martina Cutajar – Dynasty
- Eliana Gomez Blanco – Sto Male
- Yulan Law – Speechless
- Amy Pace – Rise up
- Eksenia Sammut – Always remember us this way
- Kristy Spiteri – Never Enough
The participatng acts have the right to compete with a cover or orginal song. From the 12 finalists only Aiden Aquilina Cohen and Leah Cauchi will perform original songs, while the others will sing covers. In this year’s list we see again Aiden Aquilina Cohen,Yarin Coleiro, Eliana Gomez Blanco, Kristy Spiteri compete for a second consecutive year.
What’s to follow
On August 1 all performances will be released on television and social media in order for the public to cast its votes until August 13. The final winner will come from a combination of public and jury voting by 50% each and will be officially announced on August 20.
Malta in Junior Eurovision
Malta is one of the most succeful nations in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, having won already twice: in 2013 with Gaia Cauchi and her entry “The Start” , and in 2015 with Destiny Chukunyere singing “Not My Soul,”. Chukunyere achieved to reach the final of Britain’s Got Talent while this year was a backing vocalist in Michela Pace’s Eurovision 2019 performance of her entry “Chameleon.”
Last year Ela Mangion rerpesented the country with the song “Marchin’ on” which came 5th with a total of 181 points, 138 of which came from the jury voting.
