Moldova: Che-ΜD disqualified from the national selection Live auditions
The news are not good for Che-MD , as TRM disqualified their entry from the live auditions its holding in order to find the country’s Eurovision 2020 representative.
This year Moldova has opted for a different national selection format, as it is holding live auditions through which its seeking the next Eurovision act and entry. Just few day before the Moldovian national broadcaster revealed the 36 candidates, among which were Che-MD. The Moldovian group participated in the national selection with the entry Adio
However, the national broadcaster, TRM, had to disqualify their entry as it had been released before the 1st of September which breaks one of the fundamental rules in order for a song to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. EBU rules clearly require all entries that compete in the competition not to have gone pubic before September 1.
Che- MD had released their song “Adio” on 18 May 2019 while on 26 May they had uploaded on their Youtube account pictures related to it. Following this revelation ,the organising committee was notified and decided to disqualify Che- MD from the national selection. Depsite the gorup’s reaction , their place was fill in by Pelageya Stefoglo and her entry ‘Empathy‘.
National selection 2020
This year Moldova has adopted a different format to determine its Eurovision act and entry. The candidates will perform in auditions before a jury that will rate them , with 12 points being the maximum points to award. Auditions will be aired live but the public will have no role in it. Once the audition is over it will be decided wheather there will be an addtional round or the act with the highest points will be the next Moldovian representative.
The Eurovision story so far
Moldova participated in Eurovision for the first time in 2005 and hasn’t missed a year since then. Its best results came in 2017 when Sunstroke Project with Hey Mama finished 3rd. In 2018 the country was represented by DoReDos anf their entry Lucky Day, which finished 10th in the final. In 2019 Anna Odobescu flew the flag in Tel Aviv performing her power ballad “Stay” but despite her amazing vocal performance didn’t make it to the grand final.
