Monaco: TMC will not make a comeback at Eurovision 2021
Monaco’s national broadcaster, TMC, has no plans for returning to the next year’s Eurovision in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
TMC, has confimred to ESCToday that the micro-state will not be taking part in Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam. Therefore Monaco follows the steps of Andorra, Slovakia and Luxembourg which have decided to stay away from the competition.
Monaco in Eurovision
Monaco made its first participation in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1959 and has appeared 24 times in the contest. The micro-state has a victory to show back in ESC 1971 when Severine won the contest in Dublin performing Un banc, un arbre, une rue.
The nation participated in the contest from 1959 until 1979, to withdraw one year later. It was only in 2004 when the country returned to the contest and took part for the next two years. In 2007 it decided to withdraw from the contest and hasn’t returned back up to date.
