Montenegro: National broadcaster confirms preliminary participation in Eurovision 2019
The Montenegrin national broadcaster, RTCG, has confirmed preliminary participation at the forthcoming 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
According to the national broadcaster the country has submitted the preliminary application in order to declare interest in participating in the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel. The deadline for broadcasters to apply for participation expired on 15 September and the applicant countries have the right to withdraw without facing a financial penalty until October 10.
Therefore, it is more likely that Monetenegro will join the list of coutries that will be present in Tel Aviv next May. However there has been no information released about which formula the country will use to determine its Eurovision 2019 act and entry.
The Eurovision Story so Far
Montenegro participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time as a solo country in 2007 with Stefan Faddy . The country achieved its best results in the contest in 2015 with Knez‘s and his ballad Adio. It was 2nd time the country made it to the grand final. The first was achieved one year ago in 2014.
In 2018 Vanja Radovanovic was crowned the winner of Montevizija 2018, which retunred as the country’s national selection formula, represented the Montenegrin colours with his entry Inje. Unfortunately, Montenegro failed to qualify to the Grand Final for the third successive year.
