Norway: Listen to KEiiNO’s new single “Praying”
KEiiNO the Norwegian trio that conquered Europe’s audience at the last Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, topping the televoting with their entry Spirit in the sky , is now meeting wider success across Europe and is putting the bases for new things and steps in the music scene.
The new single “Praying“
After their Eurovision success in Tel Aviv, KEiiNO have released their new single entitled Praying. Talking to the Norwegian newspapaer, VG ( aka Verdens Gang, “The Course of the World”), KEiiNO’s vocalist, Tom Hugo stated about their new song Praying, which was created in the region of Finnmark, homeplace of the other member, Fred Buljo:
The goal was to write a light summer song, which was not so easy in Alta in February. So the theme of ‘Praying’ became the fear of dying. But the melody is now quite cheerful, so it will be exciting to see how the song is received.
As their Eurovision entry, Spirit in the sky, Praying features Sámi elements or joik combined with electro dance-pop tunes. The group intends to use even more the Sámi language, especially after being appointed by the Sami Parliament as ambassadors in the UN’s Year of Indigenous Languages. Commenting on the fact the KEiiNO member stated:
For us it is a great honour. From the start we wanted to use Sámi language and Sámi elements in our songs, and we hope to be able to contribute to several other indigenous artists using their own language in a modern music expression.
