Norway: NRK begins selection process for Eurovision 2022

Norway’s national broadcaster, NRK, has confirmed that it will take part in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Italy.
NRK (Norwegian national broadcaster), a week after this year’s competition, has confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2022 and has started the process for the Melodi Grand Prix 2022, through which the country’s representative will be selected in the next competition to be held in Italy.
NRK has released the national selection regulations for 2022 and opened the submission window for interested singers and composers wishing to represent the country at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Italy.
Applications can be sent here while a submission deadline of 15 August. The national selection is expected is expected to take place in February 2022 and will consist of semifinals and a grand final.
The Norwegian head of the delegation, Stig Karlsen, stated:
The invitation is open to anyone who writes songs and at the same time we are open to all kinds of music. This is a unique opportunity to try to win a place in the biggest music competition in the world.
Norway in Eurovision
Norway has been taking part in the Eurovision Song contest since 1960 and has won the contest three times, in 1985, 1995 and 2009.
However, the country has set some records, finishing 11th in the standings, four of which have received zero points. In addition, he won 2009 receiving 12 points from 16 countries and was voted by each participating country, reaching the impressive winning score of 387 points!
This year Norway represented by TIX who sang ‘Fallen Angel’ which finished 18th place with only 75 points.
