Poland: Junior Eurovision 2018 Entry “Anyone I Want To Be” released

Poland’s Junior Eurovision 2018 entry “Anyone I Want To Be” was released today.

In September Polish broadcaster TVP  selected internally Roksana Wegiel to represent the country in Minsk. This is the first time the country has selected their act not through a national selection but internally.This change has is an attempt of the Polish broadcaster to achieve better results after last two year’s poor results.

Today the song that Roksana will perform on Minsk Arena stage was released . The entry “Anyone I Want To Be” comes just some days after the delegation revealed that five dancers will join Roksana on stage. The singer’s performance has been choreographed by Tomasz Barański, with dancers coming from the Young Universe Group. The five dancers are:

  • Ada Gutkowska
  • Tosia Zając
  • Maja Śmidowicz
  • Aleksandra Osińska
  • Matylda Kucharska

Roksana Węgiel was born on 11th January 2005 in Jasło, Poland. The young singer became widely known from winning  The Voice Kids in Poland  this year, and has since released two singles, titled “Zyj” and “I Promise”. 

Poland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Poland competed in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. After two consecutive last-place finishes, they withdrew from the contest in 2005. Poland returned to the contest 13 years after,  in 2016 and Olivia Wieczorek finished 11th in Malta with “Nie zapomnij”. Last year Alicja Rega placed 8th with Moj Dom which is the best result of the country so far.
